In 2014, AAPPED and UNICEF jointly rehabilitated the Youth Multipurpose Centre (YMPC) in Jowhar to provide a space for the youth to engage in recreational activities that are non- threatening and that promote positive development.

Today, this centre consists of a theatre with a capacity to accommodate an audience of more than 100 people, a meeting hall, and a playground, a room for indoor recreational activities and/or Non-Formal Education (NFE) classes, a counseling room and an Internet café.

UNICEF provided a TV set, a VHS set, a projector, a desktop, a printer and library books, while AAPPED installed cabling for internet services and provided 10 computers equipped with internet capacity.
